"Ugly", which was screened at Cannes in 2013, revolves around the life of a girl called Kali. It has been described on Phantom Films' YouTube channel as "a dark psychological thriller on the surface and an emotional drama within."
Phantom Films has released a short prologue to "Ugly" called "Kali-Katha" (the story of Kali).
"It explores the uncomfortable truth below the surface of relationships, which we often ignore and refuse to accept," he further told.
The prologue shows the story of Kali's conception.
In just five minutes, "Kali-Katha" brings to light the possible grounds on which a man decides to become abusive, and delves into the rapist mindset. The short film subtly highlights some of the circumstances that lead to marital rape.
